The area covers 4 districts, namely Pranburi District, Sam Roi Yot District, Kui Buri District and Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan District. It is an important watershed of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The highest peak is about 989 meters above sea level and is part of the Kaeng Krachan forest.
It was declared as a National Park in the Royal Thai Government Gazette, Volume 116, Part 20A, on March 25, 1999, as the country's 90th national park. It consists of 1 National Park office, 5 National Park Ranger Station as follow:

2. National Park Ranger Station Unit 2(Sam Rhong)
3. National Park Ranger Station Unit 3(Dan Singkhon)
4. National Park Ranger Station Unit 4(Hub Masang)
5. National Park Ranger Station Unit 5(Huay Luek)
6. National Park Ranger Station Unit 6(Phraek Dalui)
